Hailing the project a success, St Helens Council’s Cabinet Member for Better Health and Building Arts & Culture, Councillor Gill Neal, said: “As the Liverpool City Region’s pioneering Borough of Culture, we’ve made a thriving arts and culture scene a real priority going forward, so it’s great to get involved in projects like Lost Castles; especially as we celebrate our 150th year as a municipal borough.
“A special mention deserves to go out to the many volunteers who gave up their time over the course of the week in order to make this possible.
“Their grit and determination to assemble the castle despite facing – at times – challenging weather conditions was admirable and showed a real sense of community spirit.
“It’s fair to say that all the hard work put in by everyone paid off because the end result was phenomenal – and it was pleasing to see so many people from across the borough and wider city region turn out to view our Lost Castle in all its glory.”
